The Heart Behind the Hook
Cathy has been crocheting and doing needlework for most of her life, but in 2019 she began truly mastering her craft. Inspired by the legacy of Lois Washington Lainhart Hicks-Beach, who first introduced her to needlework, Cathy brings generations of artistry into every stitch. Her work is more than handmade—it’s heart-made.
Whether she’s creating a cozy baby blanket or a stylish purse, Cathy pours love, care, and creativity into each custom piece. Her passion for crochet is rooted in tradition, but her designs are made for today.
Charles "Chic" Geisinger
The Creative Partner
Chic is Cathy’s husband and co-founder of their custom crochet business. With a shared vision and deep appreciation for Cathy’s talent, Chic helps bring the business to life—from planning and logistics to supporting the creative process. Together, they’ve built a brand that honors heritage, celebrates craftsmanship, and connects people through handmade beauty.
Legacy Timeline: The Threads That Bind
18th Century
Shardeloes Mansion is built near Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England—a stately country house that would become a symbol of heritage and care.
1939–1948
- During World War II, Shardeloes Mansion, home of the Tyrwhitt-Drake family, is requisitioned as a maternity hospital. Over 5,000 babies are born there, making it a place of life and hope during wartime.
1911
- Lt.-Cdr. Frederick Edward Hicks-Beach is born on December 30. He is the son of Michael Hicks-Beach, 1st Earl of St Aldwyn, and Helene Des Fosses.
Mid-20th Century
- Frederick Hicks-Beach marries Lois Washington Lainhart, who co-founds the Shardeloes American Cocker Kennel.
- Lois introduces Cathy to needlework and the joy of raising American Cocker Spaniels, passions she nurtures until her passing.
- Cathy continues the needlework tradition, developing her own style and love for handcrafted pieces.
2024
- Cathy and Chic Geisinger launch a custom crochet business inspired by Cathy’s lifelong passion and the legacy of Lois’s teachings.
The name Shardeloes is chosen to honor both the historic mansion and the family’s enduring spirit of creativity, care, and tradition.
